Baseball
ELGAA offers baseball programs for boys, and softball programs for girls, beginning at the Junior Kindergarten level through 8th grade. Registration is typically scheduled in mid- February. Late registrations are accepted if roster numbers allow. Practices are held generally once a week, beginning in May. Traveling league games begin in May or early June, depending on the league. Home games are played at June Vollrath Park in addition to away games hosted by neighboring communities. See Team Profiles for age levels and specific team classifications.

Team Profiles
Instructional Level (Boys JK-K and Girls JK-Grade 1)
This is an introduction into the basics of baseball and begins teaching the fundamentals. Instructional Level Teams meet once a week for approximately six weeks, from mid June through July. As of 2010, Kindergarten boys will have the option to play at the Pee Wee level if skill level and roster size permits. Registration will begin February 7. Deadline to register is February 22, 2012.
Boys Pee Wee Team (Grades 1 and 2, Kindergarten optional)
This is the entry-level traveling team. Introduces fundamentals and skills of all position and rules of the game. Parent pitching is implemented and no score is kept. Practice one night a week. Games are generally on Friday night.
Boys Midget Team (Grades 3 and 4)
This is a traveling team where player pitching is introduced along with further development of skill levels at all positions in addition to batting techniques. Practice one night a week, with additional practice optional. Games are generally on Friday night.
Boys Little League (Grades 5 and 6)
Traveling team where focus is placed on evaluation and defining player strengths and skills at specific positions, along with further development of batting skills at fast-pitch level. One to two practices per week. Games generally on Sunday afternoon.
Cadet Level (Grades 7 and 8)
Emphasis is to develop skills towards high school level and team philosophy in preparation for JV/Varsity baseball. Practice one to two nights per week. Games most likely to be scheduled for Sundays.

Girls C Team (Grades 2 and 3)
This is the entry-level traveling team which introduces the fundamentals and skills of all positions of softball along with the rules of the game. Parent pitching is used and no score is kept. Practice one night a week, games either on Tuesday night or Sunday.

Girls B Team (Grades 4, 5 and 6)
Traveling team which introduces moderate-pitch softball and development of player positions and batting. Practice one night a week. Games on Tuesday nights or Sunday.

Girls A Team (Grades 7 and 8)
Traveling team which advances to development of fast-pitch softball and further enhancement of skills at specific positions. Practice at least one night per week, with additional optional time available for batting and pitching. Games on Tuesday nights or Sunday.
